The benefits of Ayurveda extend well beyond immediate cure. Besides getting to the root of the disease in order to cure it, Ayurveda ultimately aims at preventing a recurrence of the problem by helping the individual integrate the principles of ayurveda into his everyday lifestyle. The fact that Ayurvedic medication has no unpleasant side effects on the body definitely helps in the final synthesis, as do the yoga and meditation, which are also an essential part of the treatment.

Following are some fitness programmes offered by various health resorts in Kerala.

Special Ayurvedic Health Programme to lose weight: A unique 14 days health programme with herbal oil massages and ayurvedic medicines to help you loose excess weight and streamline your body in a matter of weeks. No dieting or exercising -get into shape the “natural” way.

Massages to restore vigour and vitality: a special 14 days massage programme to help restore and repair worn out tissues, improve blood circulation, stop premature ageing and to give you glowing wrinkle-free skin.

Proven remedies for arthritis, rheumatism, spondylitis, paralysis, slipped disc, frozen shoulders and nervous debility the non-toxic way. To treat these, a dose of concentrated herbal extracts would be recommended for internal consumption and medicated oils/pastes prescribed for external application to control the pain and swelling of the inflamed points. If the patient has already been on a course of allopathic medicines, this is slowly tapered off and replaced by Ayurvedic treatment. During the treatment period one should follow a regulated diet and lifestyle. The physician acts as an advisor, leaving the final decision to follow through to the patient.

Ayurveda does not advocate against non-vegetarian food or alcohol. Nonetheless, because the patient’s digestive capacity does not function at its full capacity and he might become weak, he is advised to follow a strict vegetarian, alcohol-free diet.

PLEASE NOTE TREATMENT VARIES PERSON TO PERSON.

THE WINTER AND MONSOON SEASONS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE IDEAL TIME TO UNDERGO AYURVEDIC TREATMENT.
