This luxury train-a joint venture between the Gujarat Tourism and the Indian Railways promises a journey into the days of unimaginable splendour and opulence of the world of the erstwhile Maharajas.

This train has saloon carriages with an embossed pantheon of 13 gods, which recreate the wondrous world of royalty.

The Royal Orient is fitted with all the modern conveniences you would expect in a first class hotel. It also has multi-cuisine restaurants, bar and a library.

With Royal Orient, discover a glorious past and enjoy the magnificence of ancient India, her temples and shrines, resort, and beaches, forest and sanctuaries. This train covers the route of Udaipur, Palitana, Somnath, Ahmedpur, Mandvi, Sasangir, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur in seven days.

ITINERARY

DAY 1. (Wednesday)
The start of the journey

Departure from Delhi Cantonment Railway Station.

DAY 2.
Chittaurgarh and Udaipur

Arrival at Chittorgarh Railway Station. Visit Chittorgarh fort which was built in the 7th century, The Rana Kumbha Palace and the Kalika mata temple. Departure for Udaipur. Arrival at Udaipur. Local sightseeing includes Udaipur City Palace, Shilpgram (the village for arts and crafts), boating at Lake Pichola, sahelion ki bari (royal garden)

Departure for Junagarh. Dinner on board.

DAY 3. (Friday)
Junagarh and Veraval

Arrival at Junagarh, a city that owes its historic significance to Ashoka Maurya, the greatest Indian emperor ever. At Junagarh you will visit Ashokan Rock edict of 3rd century B.C., Darbar Hall museum, Mausoleum of Nawab Mohabbat Khanji. Late afternoon departure for Veraval. Evening arrival at Veraval. Here you will visit a miraculous shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, The Somnath temple.

DAY 4. (Saturday)
Sasangir, Ahmedpur Mandvi, and Diu

Saturday will take you to the only place in the world outside Africa where the majestic lion can be seen in its natural habitat. The Sasangir Forest which is home to more than 312 lions. After early morning visit of Sasan Gir, departure for Delwada. At Delwada visit Ahmedpur Mandvi Beach and Diu’s fort and St.Paul Church. Evening departure for Palitana.

DAY 5. (Sunday)
Palitana and Sarkhez

Arrival at Palitana. “The Temple City”. Visit 863 Jain temples atop Shatrunjaya Hills, which were built over a period of nine hundred years. The way to the hilltop stretches 6000 metres, over 3000 steps. On foot it will take you 2 hours to complete the 4 kilometer long ascent. You can also travel in palenquins carried by men, in true medieval fashion. At Palitana you will visit other important temples such as the Choumukh, Kumarpal Vimal Shah and Sampti Raja Temples.

Evening visit Sarkhej. Visit Vishala Village where every tradition, every custom is kept intact. Here you can taste recipes that have been handed down over generations. Shop for medieval trinklets and metalware. Experience medieval songs and dances, with mythical overtones.

DAY. 6 (Monday)
Ahmedabad

Sightseeing of Ahmedabad - the premier textile town of India. Sightseeing includes Adalaj Stepwell. Step wells are the most peculiar architectural relics of medieval Gujrat. Gandhi Ashram, Calico museum of Textiles, Sidi Sayed’s Mosque, shopping etc.

DAY 7. (Tuesday)
Jaipur - The Pink City

On Tuesday you will visit a city where history is a living, breathing spirit. Jaipur is a city of royal grandeur where long after the departure of royalty, the descendants of the dynasties are still revered as Kings and Queens by the local people.

Today, sightseeing includes, Visit of Amer fort and an elephant ride via Hawa Mahal, The city palace and Jantar Mantar (Observatory)

Evening departure for Delhi.

DAY 8. (Wednesday)
Journey back to Delhi.
