BODH GAYA- is in the state of Bihar and is considered a sacred place for Buddhists.

It is here that under a peepul tree Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment some 2,500 years back.

Several nations where Buddhism flourishes, such as Thailand, Japan, Burma, China have built monasteries at Bodh Gaya in their own architectural styles.
