Delhi, the capital of India, is the third largest city of India. It is a major travel gateway into the country, with a halting spot for many international flights. Delhi has been a place of great historic significance.
Mumbai, earlier known as Bombay, is the capital of Maharashtra, and is the fastest moving city of India. Mumbai, being the commercial capital of the country, it is a land for finance, trade and entertainment of the country.
Calcutta, the erstwhile capital of British India, still bears the influence of the Raj. The Gateway to India till 1912, it is the largest metropolis in India.
Chennai, formerly known as Madras, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is the country's fourth largest city. Chennai is less polluted and congested than other metros of India. Chennai was the site of the first settlement of the East India Company.
Bangalore, dubbed as the Silicon Valley of India, in addition to being the centre of India's software industry, also has holdings in aircraft, electronics and machine tools. It is one of Asia's fastest growing cities but remains one of the most elegant too, and is aptly called 'The City of Gardens'. |
