Rishikesh at an altitude of 365 meters, is on the right bank of the Ganga.

It has an environment of peace and tranquility interrupted only by the gurgling waters of the Ganga as it spreads out.

Rishikesh means the “plaits of the sage”. The dense tangle of vegetation on the mountain perhaps conveys an image of the sage’s matted locks, thereby giving the place its name.

HERITAGE/ OTHER HOTELS

Shivananda Ashram- Rishikesh is a place of Ashrams. The Shivananda Ashram is an important centre where discourses in English on Hindu religious texts are to be heard in the evenings. The Ashram was founded by Swami Shivananda and is run by his Divine Life Society.

Laxman Jhoola (swinging bridge)- Laxman Jhoola is a suspension bridge spanning the Ganga.

One should be careful, as the bridge tends to swing a little when the wind is strong and it has lots of people on it.
