GANGTOK - 4 Nights & 5 Days

Day 01: Arrival  Gangtok

Arrive Bagdogra Airport   and transfer by road to Gangtok (120 KMS / 4 hrs). Alternatively fly to Pakyong, (32 kms from Gangtok).  Check in to your hotel and evening free at leisure. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2: Gangtok Nathu La Pass (80 Kms/ 3 hrs) à Changu (Tsomgo) Lake (15 Kms/ 30 Mins) 

Full day excursion to Nathu La pass at 14,100 ft. (permit is required). Tourist attractions near Nathu La pass are Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and Mandakini Waterfalls. On return stop at Changu Glacier Lake, situated at a height of 12400 ft. and is 1 km in length. The cool water of the Lake and the scenic beauty is a perfect place for picnic and resting. Snacks/ Lunch at Changu Lake. En-route there are many waterfalls which makes the journey interesting. One can have a unique experience of riding a Yak around the lake and enjoy a ride on Asia’s highest cable car from Changu Lake to the mountain height of 14500 ft to enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayan Range particularly Kanchenjunga peak. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 3: Gangtok sightseeing

Today proceed for sightseeing of one of the oldest and most beautiful Rumtek Monastery, Saramsa garden – Wonderful garden of Sikkim. Lunch at Saramsa Garden.  Proceed to Deorali Orchid Sanctuary to see rare 450 species of orchids. Optional stop for snacks at a cafe in the Orchid Sanctuary. In the evening enjoy a 20 minute ride in the cable car   to get  the aerial view of the  town and majestic mountains.  Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 4: Gangtok sightseeing 

After breakfast start your day by visiting Umaid Bhavan Palace, now segmented into royal residence, Heritage Hotel and museum with a collection of miniature paintings, crafts and royal finery. Its construction depicts the style of Rajputs.

After lunch proceed to Mehrangarh Fort–one of the largest forts in India. The 5 km long majestic Fort on 125 m high hill is one of the most impressive and formidable structures built in 1454 A.D. by Rao Jodha Singh. Within fort visit Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. Then visit Mehrangarh Fort Museum: excellent museum with rare and interesting artifacts, textiles, paintings, transport items etc. Adjacent to the fort complex is Jaswant Thada: A cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in 1899 AD in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Departure Gangtok

Check out from hotel and transfer by road to Bagdogra airport (85 kms/4 hrs.) or to Pakyong airport (32kms / 1 hr.)  to board onward flight.
